I’m honored to have won second place in the blog writing category in the 2021 Florida Society for Professional Journalists’ Sunshine State Awards. It’s really thrilling to be recognized again by SPJ’s Florida chapter; in 2015, I won in the long-form blog writing category.

This year’s second-place award is for a collection of these three pieces:

  • Shark Week and Sharkfest’s experts are mostly white men. Why? And does it matter?
  • From Cops to Big Brother to Live PD, reality TV is a big part of the problem
  • Taste the Nation: Padma Lakshmi’s exceptional Hulu series spotlights those who make food American
