Speaker Moderating The Great Debate: Heads vs. Feds, as photographed by my friend Nancy Barber.

More than 20 years ago, I made my on-stage debut as Michael in my elementary school’s production of Peter Pan, a role that required me to pad around the stage in my red sleeper pajamas carrying my sister’s teddy bear, which had been unceremoniously pried from her fingers by my parents hours earlier.

Since then, I’ve sometimes found my way back in front of audiences, as a guest on radio and TV shows discussing what’s on TV, as a writer reading from my work, and as a teacher working with various groups. I’ve presented sessions at college media conferences, read work in progress at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and spoken at a dinner honoring (then future, now former) CIA director Porter Goss.

I’m available to speak or lead workshops on topics relating to reality television, popular culture, journalism, student media, TV, nonfiction writing, and blogging. I particularly enjoy working with small groups, student and otherwise, and talking about my writing and reporting.

If you’re interested in having me do any of those things, or something else, let’s talk. I promise I’ll leave my sleeper pajamas at home. Contact me today.
